PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

FULL TIME POSITIONS

2006 - Now: PhD Student, University of South Australia

Duties:

  • Perform interpretive studies on creative teams at work, with the purpose of enabling effective ICT support for these processes in future
  • Collect and analyse document, communication records
  • Conduct interviews with research participants
  • Write and present academic articles.

Achievements:

  • Obtained the Australian Postgraduate Awards scholarship for this research
  • Presented my research work in various locations, most notably the London School of Economics, UK and the University of Zurich, Switzerland.

2004 - 2005: Senior Consultant, Leader Entity Pty Ltd, Penang, Malaysia

Duties

  • Provide top-level advice to customers. I had two major customers in my portfolio, a training institute, Infogenius and a college, Institut Wawasan
  • Assist customers in research, development and marketing of new training programmes
  • Assist customers in improving their day-to-day operations.

Achievements:

  • Successfully led a team which streamlined the processes of Institut Wawasan. We ensured that these processes are compliant to ISO 9001 requirements and subsequently, the organisation managed to pass the official audit and obtained the ISO 9001 certification.
  • Successfully led the development of a Technical English programme specially tailored for Manufacturing Specialists in Intel Malaysia. The programme was approved by the Training Department of Intel Malaysia.
  • Co-led the marketing team for the programme, which managed to attract 178 Intel employees and generated over $80,000 revenue.
  • Developed the framework for a Train the Trainers programme for Infogenius which was approved by the Malaysian government. The programme was targeted at college educators

 

SUPPLEMENTARY POSITIONS

2009 - now: Project Manager, Benchmarking
(I was a member of a consultancy team of School of Computer and Information Systems, University of South Australia. The team is tasked with developing a benchmarking framework for Uniting Care Wesley, South Australia) 

Duties

  • Develop a benchmarking framework for the IS department of Uniting Care Wesley Adelaide. The developed framework will contain process metrics for IS departments of important non-profit organisations.

 2008: Systems Advisor, School of Computer and Information Systems, University of South Australia
(I was a member of a consultancy team of School of Computer and Information Systems, University of South Australia. The team is tasked with developing a knowledge management system for Uniting Care Wesley, South Australia)

Duties

  • Provide technical advice during the initial development, specifically advice on developing the software development framework, setting up SQL databases and developing the user interface with PHP scripting language.

2006 - now: Information Systems Lab (InSyL) manager, School of Computer and Information Systems, University of South Australia

Duties

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the InSyL laboratory
  • Perform backups and upgrades to existing lab infrastructure.

2006 - 2008: Lecturer for the following subjects - Archival Management and Digital Preservation; Fundamentals of Information Systems M
Tutor for Electronic Commerce in University of South Australia

Duties

  • Prepare course materials and deliver lectures/tutorials

Achievements

  • Taught around 100 students over 5 study periods
  • Obtained positive feedback from students (over 75% according to the Student Evaluation of Teaching scores).

I have represented University of Science Malaysia and won a Gold Medal in the International Invention, Innovation, Industrial Design and Technology Exhibition (ITEX), 2004, Kuala Lumpur, for the design of a Smart Portable Carbon Monoxide Forecaster.
